Location: St George, Ontario.
To keep the Daytona Charger theme going for another month here is a local car to me, a very nicely restored F6 - Bright Green Metallic Daytona Charger: the Mopar of the Month for May and June 2008.
I will let Todd, the just past owner of the car tell the story!

Parting with Mopar Canadian history - Is it ever easy to let something go you have always enjoyed and wanted? Is it better to know the home it goes to is deserving and a worthy Mopar Family...then yes 414624 is in the correct garage.

First off the Ebay Auction that started some time in Feb 2008 turned out to be a real nail bitter.  Sold new in Toronto, Ontario as a 1970 Daytona, the car was almost unknown for many years. It did pop up in some ads back in the mid 1980's with only 24,000 miles and later at the only  Canadian Mopar Only show of significance - Moparfest 2007. But in the end Mr. Ashby Lincoln from Atlanta, Georgia would wind up owing this F6 work of Art .

Well now we can have the rest of the story, the Paul Harvey way...you see this car was was destined to be owned by My Ashby Lincoln because one day back in 1971, a  young family was holidaying  in  Florida state, it was discovered that when you drive for several hours eventually every car needs gas as was the case on this trip. With the needle pushing EMPTY Mr Ashby Lincoln the fourth , pulled off for a pit stop, as Mr. Lincoln stared across the hood of his existing ride  he laid his eyes on  an F6 Green on White 1969 Dodge Daytona, sitting on a used car lot. Yep it was a 440 Automatic , one of 34 F6 cars ever built and one of who knows how many with a white wing to boot.

It was a defining moment for the Lincoln Family. The luggage was removed and the trip would continue Wing Car Style, negotiations aside it was time for a new ride. As you can imagine some real family memories got made that trip and many more over the years...having a big Green LOUD car following you every place you go can really let  people know you are about to arrive. Lincoln Jr fondly remembers just such a day when the family moved to a small suburb in Ohio. The family's dogs....2 of them no less had just had pups, rather big litters, hay it happens but this particular week end the pups had been born at the most inopportune time...9 in one litter 10 in the other ,and shortly after had to be loaded up for the trip north to Ohio and a quite family home on a cul-de-sac street. You see when 21 dogs and a big green car show up in any town, people remember you, and it kind of puts a mark on who you are and actually makes you remember the smallest of details about a seemingly normal life...a normal life With a BIG GREEN F6 Dodge Daytona as part of it. Fond memories no doubt, you will see in the shots enclosed

Mr. Ashby Lincoln the 5th did return to the scene of many crimes...the  crimes of his youth, with his new F6 Daytona for a cameo shot, a couple of neighbors did remember him , luckily for them the 21 dogs didn't show up for the second home coming just the car, the New F6 440 Daytona with white  interior and white wing, buckets, console automatic with Disc brakes, Identical to the one from years before showed up during a down pour and for some strange reason the MOPAR Gods were listening. The rain stopped the sun came out and the current owner of the old family homestead was quite happy to let the old occupant see his bed room again and wander around. It was how new memories often start, reminiscing about some old ones and making new ones at the same time ....

So Now we can fast forward to present day...Pre Purchase back in Feb 2008...and Mr. Lincoln Sr calls Junior to remind him of some of those memories and look on the internet as a perfectly restored F6 Daytona is about to sell...Jr. looks at the car and makes some calls. Yep it was identical to the car father sold back in the 80's for what was all of the money back then.. just short of 10k, and now it was time to make the BIG call . "Son you should call about this auction before it ends" Grab it and enjoy or keep waiting for another but get one and make sure  it is F6 like our old one !!!

So Ashby  crunched the numbers, made a few calls. started to think of how cool it would be sitting their garage not mine  & after a few more calls the new F6 Daytona is secured (well short of getting a drivers lic and Insurance ...another Long Story) the car is going to allow Mr. Ashby Lincoln the 6th, years of enjoyment, Yes MR. LINCOLN the 6th, as shown sitting in the drivers seat shot enclosed, yes you see the Lincoln name continues...and eventually some one had to ask Why six Ashby Lincoln's, what gives...well we do know the Lincoln's have a soft spot for NASCAR and Dodge Daytona's, but did you know the rest of the story, Mr. Ashby Lincoln, all of them...are a part  of  American history.  Quite a big part actually, You see....the name will give it away, Mr. Ashby Lincoln is actually Mr. Ashby Abraham Lincoln, our Daytona lovers are part of the lineage leading back to Mr. Abraham Lincoln the President, good old Abe .YES FOR REAL, So it is worth  keeping the name going!!!
And NOW you know the rest of the story, 414624 is presently making new memories for the  Ashby's, all three of them, the long lost 414624 has a new home and will get the attention it deserves.
Enjoy the story and the shots!
